What happened
The institution itself was renamed: "Academy of Art College" became "Academy of Art University" in 2004 (a rebrand of the same San Francisco institution, founded 1929). The metals/jewelry program was NOT closed — it continued and remains a dedicated, full standalone "School of Jewelry & Metal Arts." Since ~2014 it has continued operating with AA/BFA/MA/MFA offerings and expanded into digital fabrication (CAD/CAM, 3D printing, laser, CNC). Charlene Modena directs the school. The archived directory entry's reference to "Academy of Art College" reflects only the pre-2004 institutional name; the program is alive and active under the renamed university.
