What happened
No evidence that a metals/jewelry program ever existed at Barton, and none exists now. The institution itself continues and rebranded from 'Barton County Community College' to 'Barton Community College.' The current Art program covers only painting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and digital graphic design. No metals/jewelry/metalsmithing/CAD-CAM courses appear in the current (2024-2025) catalog, and Barton is absent from independent metalsmithing-school directories (Metalcyberspace, Society of American Silversmiths, Jewelers of America). If the archived directory listed a metals offering (likely a single continuing-ed or studio class pre-2014), it has since been discontinued or was never a formal program; the only Kansas community college with a documented metals/silversmithing program is Johnson County Community College, not Barton.
