What happened
Continuation, no closure or rename. The program has run continuously since the late 1950s through a lineage of internationally recognized professors (Ramona Solberg, Don Tompkins, Ken Cory, then Keith Lewis). Keith Lewis — listed in the archived record as "1993 to present" — remains the lead faculty member, now a CWU Distinguished Professor (inducted American Craft Council Fellow 2022; monograph presented at Munich Jewelry Week 2024; work at NYC Museum of Arts and Design 2024). The host department is now styled "Department of Art + Design." No closure, merger, or renaming of the metals program is evident; it remains an active BFA/MFA area.
