What happened
The institution itself continues: Georgian Court College became Georgian Court University in February 2004 (NJ Commission on Higher Education granted university status). The archived "metals program" entry hinged on faculty member Geraldine (Khaner) Velasquez, who taught in the art department from 1980 to 2015 — introducing studio crafts including jewelry/enamel/fiber and chairing the art, communication, graphic design and multimedia departments. She retired in 2015. Since then the broader Visual Art major has continued under the renamed Department of Art & Visual Studies, but no metals/jewelry/metalsmithing curriculum is present in the current catalog or course list. There is no evidence of a formally named, standalone metals program being closed or renamed — rather, the crafts/jewelry teaching appears to have been tied to Velasquez and did not continue as a distinct offering after her 2015 retirement. The archived record's "1980 to present" reflects the directory's pre-2015 snapshot.
