What happened
Continuation with no closure or rename. The Jewelry & Enamel program dates to 1965 (the school's first jewelry course was held in the MFAH basement). In 2015 the program's 50th anniversary was marked by the exhibition "Course of Action: 50 Years of Jewelry and Enamel at the Glassell School of Art" at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. The Glassell School moved into a new purpose-built building (opened May 2018) as part of the MFAH campus expansion, with current studio facilities. The program continues actively into 2025–2026 with full Fall 2025 catalog course listings (Jewelry Fundamentals I/II, Intermediate/Advanced Jewelry, Enameling levels, metal clay, soldering, chain making, stone setting, plus digital technology). No leadership change found — Sandie Zilker has remained department chair throughout this period.
