What happened
No evidence found that Harding ever operated a distinct metals/jewelry program. The archived directory record itself listed "started: unknown" and "faculty: n/a," consistent with a generic/aspirational listing rather than a real dedicated program. As of 2025-2026, the department offers no metals/jewelry coursework or concentration, and no current faculty member lists metals, metalsmithing, jewelry, or sculpture as their specialty (faculty areas are graphic design, fine arts/painting, watercolor, interior design, architecture, art education). If any metals/jewelry instruction ever existed it was at most an elective within "three-dimensional media" and is not present today. The department was renamed/expanded from "Department of Art & Design" to "Department of Art, Architecture and Design," and Stacy Gibson is the current chair.
