What happened
Strong continuation. The metals program at Kent State dates to 1950 and is one of the oldest/most established in the US (lineage includes Mary Ann Scherr, William Harper, Bruce Metcalf, and later Kathleen Browne). Since ~2014 the program has continued and even expanded: new ~4,550 sq ft Jewelry/Metals/Enameling studio facilities were built in 2015, well-equipped with metalsmithing tools, enameling kilns, hydraulic press, and 3D printers. The MFA remains fully funded. Current area leadership is Andrew Kuebeck. No closure, merger, or renaming — the program retains the Jewelry/Metals/Enameling name within the School of Art.
