What happened
Continuation with leadership change. The archived record listed Marcia Lewis (chasing/metalsmithing artist, faculty 1978–) as the program's long-time instructor. Since ~2014 the program has continued uninterrupted and modernized into a full Jewelry & Metalsmithing / Applied Design offering. Tanya Crane (MFA Metalsmithing+Jewelry, UW-Madison; BFA Metal, SUNY New Paltz) is now the lead full-time professor / program head, having succeeded Lewis as the senior metals faculty. The program was active and recruiting students as recently as 2022 (Viking News coverage) and the LBCC program pages remain live in 2025–2026. No closure, merger, or rename of the discipline — it remains within the Visual & Media Arts / Applied Design area.
