What happened
The institution itself was renamed from Longwood College to Longwood University in 2002. The archived record's faculty note ("Mark Baldridge 1972 to present") is now out of date: Baldridge taught jewelry/metals at Longwood for 42 years and retired in 2014. The program continued after his retirement and is currently led by Kathleen Kennedy (Assistant Professor of Art in Jewelry/Metalsmithing). The art program was also reorganized into the combined Department of Theatre, Art, and Graphic & Animation Design. No closure — the metals/jewelry offering is continuous through to the present (2026 catalog).
