What happened
The institution has operated continuously and is currently active. It was founded in 1986 by Philippe Moutardier as the "First Institute of Gemology and Jewelry School of Florida" in Coral Gables (state-licensed since 1987). In 2006 leadership passed to Marc Thurn and it operated as the "Miami Jewelry School." As of February 2024, Dr. Samanthessa R. Jacob assumed leadership and it was rebranded "Miami Jewelry Institute." So since ~2014 it continued under Marc Thurn, then underwent a 2024 leadership change and rename. The program is alive at 777 NW 72nd Ave, Miami, FL.
