What happened
Continuation, no closure. The metalsmithing program remains an active studio area in the Department of Art. The biggest institutional change since 2014: on June 8, 2021 Gov. Abbott signed HB 1522 making Midwestern State University the fifth member of the Texas Tech University System, effective Sept 1, 2021 — an affiliation/system change, not a name change or program change. Metals faculty Suguru Hiraide has been continuous since 2003.
