What happened
Metalsmithing was never a freestanding NYU degree program; it has long been one of the studio media offered within the Studio Art program. It continues as such through 2025-2026 with active course offerings, so there has been continuation rather than closure or rename. The archived faculty name "Pamela E. Lins 1989 to present" almost certainly refers to artist/sculptor Pam Lins, who is no longer at NYU; she now teaches at Cooper Union (adjunct), Princeton University (Lewis Center for the Arts), and Bard College MFA. Departmental leadership over the period is held by chair Nancy Deihl.
