What happened
No metals/jewelry/metalsmithing concentration is offered at OSU today. The current Department of Art's undergraduate and MFA program areas are consistently listed as eight non-metals disciplines (Art and Technology, Ceramics, Film/Video, Glass, Painting and Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture). The archived directory record itself listed no start year and no faculty, consistent with a thin or already-defunct listing at the time of archiving. I could not locate any current OSU page, news item, or accreditation/SNAG record documenting an active metals program, nor a dated announcement of a specific closure/merge. Best reading: any art-metals offering at OSU was either discontinued or never developed into a standing degree concentration; it does not exist as of 2026. Notably, OSU does run nearby material areas (Glass and Ceramics) but not metals.
