Jewelry & Metalsmithing concentration within the 3D Media & Material Studies program (Department of Art)

What happened
The standalone "metals" program (started 1977 per the archived record) continues but has been consolidated/rebranded into the broader "3D Media & Material Studies" umbrella within ODU's Department of Art. Rather than a separate metals/jewelry degree, metalsmithing now sits as a concentration/area within the BFA in 3D Media and Material Studies. Leadership: the area is taught by Emily Culver (MFA Cranbrook, BFA Tyler), Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalsmithing; the Department of Art chair is John Roth. The program remains active as of 2026 with current course offerings (e.g., ARTS 291).
