What happened
The dedicated metals/jewelry degree program did not survive. Mary Ann Scherr chaired the Crafts Department (renamed Department of Clay, Metal, Glass and Textiles c.1980) from roughly 1979/1980 to 1989; William Harper was a 1979 visiting professor and Pamela Lins taught 1986–1991. The department transitioned out sometime after the early 1990s. Today the discipline persists only as shop facilities (Making Center E4 / Non-Ferrous-Jewelry shops), an elective studio course, and non-credit continuing-education classes.
