What happened
The Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, a private (non-degree) jewelry/metals trade school founded by master goldsmith Alan Revere in San Francisco in 1979, closed permanently on December 15, 2017 with the graduation of its 34th Jewelry Technician Intensive class. Revere announced in 2017 that he was retiring and seeking a buyer for the business; no buyer took over the school, and it ceased operation after nearly 40 years (having trained ~10,000+ students). It was not merged into or absorbed by another institution. Founder Alan Revere subsequently retired from running a school but remained active in jewelry education — he runs the online "Let's Make Professional Jewelry" community and was later enlisted by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) to help revamp its Graduate Jeweler program in Carlsbad, CA — but that GIA program is a separate institution, not a continuation of the Revere Academy.
