What happened
San Antonio College (an Alamo Colleges community college, distinct from UTSA and the Southwest School of Art) continues to operate its Visual Arts program. Art Metals courses (ARTS 2341/2342) remain in the active 2025-2026 catalog, so metalwork instruction has continued through the period since ~2014 without closure. There is no evidence of a dedicated jewelry/metals "program" being established or shut down — metals has consistently been offered as transfer-level studio coursework under the Art/Visual Arts umbrella. Current departmental leadership: chair Dr. S. Seabrook Jones; visual arts coordinator Alfonso Cantu.
