Sawtooth School for Visual Art

What happened
Continuation with a name change. The institution was historically the "Sawtooth Center for Visual Art" and now operates as the "Sawtooth School for Visual Art" (Winston-Salem, NC; founded 1945). The metals/jewelry program is fully active, having grown to ~300 students per quarter in the Glass + Metals department. There has been notable leadership continuity rather than a change: the archived faculty member Sara Sloan Stine (joined 1987) remains the program's director as of 2025-2026, with 30+ years as a silversmith. She also founded the school's Wood and Lapidary programs.
