What happened
Continuation then institution-wide closure. John D. Wittersheim, the archived faculty member, taught metalsmithing and sculpture at Siena Heights from 1979 until his death from cancer on March 17, 2013 (age 59, ~34 years); the John Wittersheim Memorial Sculpture Park was established on campus. The metalsmithing medium CONTINUED after 2014 within the Studio Angelico art department (taught by Jamie Goode), so it did not close in the 2014-2019 window when the directory went offline. The decisive event is that on June 30, 2025, President Douglas Palmer and the Adrian Dominican Sisters announced Siena Heights University (founded 1919) will permanently close at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year for financial/enrollment reasons, with final commencement in May 2026. The metals/jewelry offering ends with the university.
