What happened
Continuation. The metals/jewelry offering survived as a named BFA Metalsmithing concentration within the Art Department and remains current as of 2026. Notably, the same person who teaches metalsmithing, Sean Macmillan, is also the Art Department chairperson, indicating the metals area is stable and central rather than at risk. No closure, merger, or rename of the metals area was found; the broader Art Department sits in the College of Liberal Arts.
