What happened
The dedicated metals/jewelry program that existed in the archived record (taught notably by Thelma Coles, with an MFA-in-Metals graduate documented as recently as 2014) is no longer offered as a distinct studio concentration. Sometime around/after the mid-2010s it was discontinued as a named area and the broader Studio Art program consolidated into five concentrations (Painting & Drawing, Photography & Media, Print, Sculpture & Extended Media, Transmedia). Metalworking capability persists only as shop equipment/casting within Sculpture & Extended Media. No press release announcing a formal closure date was located.
