What happened
Continuation. The metals/jewelry program founded in 1978 remains fully active. It is now a concentration within the broader "Art + Design" major (a curriculum restructuring that consolidated the former standalone studio areas into concentrations) and sits in the renamed Department of Art + Design, Art History, Art Education within COFAC. The program operates a renovated ~3,000 sq ft studio with chemical, finishing, and enameling rooms. The archived faculty record (John Fix, "1967 to present") is decades out of date: John Fix no longer appears in the current faculty, staff, or emeritus listings. Current leadership of the area is Luci Jockel as Area Coordinator, with Amy Sowder Koch as department chair. A 3D Art foundation program (towson3d.com) now feeds students into the Metalsmithing + Jewelry concentration alongside Ceramics, Sculpture, and Interdisciplinary Object Design.
