What happened
The metals/jewelry offering was discontinued as a standalone area. Historically UD's graduate art catalog (1990s) listed metals/jewelry studio courses — ART 606 Metals Tutorial, ART 660 Jewelry Studio and Metalwork, ART 661 Jewelry and Metalwork. These courses no longer appear in the current active course catalog, and the present Department of Art & Design lists no jewelry/metalsmithing studio area or faculty. The directory record (offline ~2014-2019) reflects this now-defunct metals studio. The art department itself continues and was renamed/reorganized from 'Department of Art' to 'Department of Art & Design'; metals/jewelry was not carried forward as a discipline. Exact year of the metals area's closure could not be pinned down from public sources.
