What happened
The University of Missouri art program is alive and active — but as a metals/jewelry program it does not exist now and shows no evidence of having existed as a dedicated concentration. The archived directory entry was itself a thin/uncertain record (metals start date "unknown", faculty "n/a"), which is consistent with a placeholder rather than a documented working metals program. Around 2014-2015 the institution consolidated its art and related media units into the School of Visual Studies (College of Arts and Science); the current eight studio areas (ceramics, drawing, fibers, foundations, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture) contain no metals/jewelry track. No metalsmithing faculty line, course track, or facility is listed in the current catalog or School of Visual Studies pages. Current director: Cathleen A. Fleck. Best read: the listing was likely an over-inclusive/erroneous directory entry, OR any historical metals offering (if it ever existed) was dropped well before/around the directory's 2014-2019 offline window and was not carried into the School of Visual Studies.
