Department of Art & Design (BFA in Art, Integrative Visual Arts)
What happened
The university's art program is alive and active, but the standalone metals/jewelry offering that the SNAG-era directory recorded no longer appears in the curriculum. As of the current (2025-26) academic catalog and program pages, neither the area-of-focus list nor the ART course listing includes metals, metalsmithing, or jewelry. The department was consolidated/rebranded as "Art & Design," and a comprehensive "Integrative Visual Arts" BFA replaced separately-named studio tracks; the metals concentration appears to have been dropped or absorbed into sculpture/3D/interdisciplinary rather than continued as a named area. I could not pin an exact year of discontinuation or identify the former metals faculty member from the archived record (the archived faculty field was "n/a", and a Cappy Counard lead turned out to be Edinboro University, not UWEC).
