What happened
Continuation with leadership succession. Linda Threadgill (the archived "to present" entry) headed the UW-Whitewater Metals Program from 1979 to 2003 and is now Professor Emerita (she now lives/works in Santa Fe, NM). The program continued under Teresa Faris, the current professor of metalsmithing and jewelry design. The area remains active through 2026 (recent UW System feature stories and a 2026 "International Recognition" UW-Whitewater news item cover the metals/jewelry program and its students). No closure, merger, or rename of the metals/jewelry offering was found; it remains a studio area within the Department of Art and Design.
