What happened
The metals/jewelry program — built into national prominence by David Pimentel (taught 1973–2004, died 2004) and earlier by Charles Loloma and Bob Winston — continues uninterrupted. Becky McDonah headed the metals area 2005–2012, then left for Millersville University in July 2012. No closure, merger, or rename has occurred; metals remains one of the named studio areas in the ASU School of Art's BFA and MFA degrees, and ASU still maintains one of the best-equipped metals studios in the US. The School of Art is housed within the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts.
