One short clip of chop off a dock on the Chesapeake became the water you're looking at - its wave shapes, its murky green, the small breaking crests. From there it's rebuilt as a living surface, layered from big slow swell down to the little ripples riding on top of it.
Left running, it drifts through a real week: seven real days' worth of temperature, wind, and wave height recorded at this exact spot, stitched into one loop so the water and light keep changing (calmer some hours, choppier others, day into night into day), and it shouldn't repeat itself while you watch.
