THE BRIDGE

The Suite Bridge is the 1990-era pipeline made portable. Four carts participate, with directionality matching the period workflow:

Bridge format: localStorage classicery-bridge-v1, FIFO, max 20 artifacts. Each artifact carries id, kind, source, name, timestamp, payload. The bridge module (bridgeLoad / bridgePush / bridgeRemove / bridgeClear / bridgeNewId / bridgeFormatTime) is pasted byte-identical into PS / AI / PM / DW so format compatibility is byte-equivalent.

SESSION HYGIENE

Per-cart additions are documented inside each cart folder:

Suite-level handoff dispatches live at Classicery/HANDOFF_*.txt. Newest dispatch is always the authoritative one; older are superseded. Version map for the launcher itself lives in HANDOFF_v002_features.txt and forward.

Version tags above — v2, v3, v4 — match the notes-file rounds. v1 headline features are inferred from each room's README and chrome.

A node-editor room. Two playgrounds on one toggle: William Sutherland's TX-2 data-flow graph (1966) and Ellis / Heafner / Sibley's GRaIL control-flow chart (RAND, demoed 1968, RM-5999-ARPA 1969). Both genuinely run — the data-flow side is a real dependency evaluator with no clock; the control-flow side is a small real interpreter that walks the chart you draw. Genre PHOSPHOR. Open NDZ →
CMI CART 018 / 024
A sampling room — the Fairlight CMI Series IIx (1982), where the digital sampler met the graphical sequencer in one box. Light pen on green phosphor, no keyboard shortcuts. Page R steps a hard-quantize grid (widely credited as the first graphical pattern-based software sequencer, the music-side cousin of the non-linear timeline); Page D shows the sound as the iconic 3-D waterfall of waveform segments, which the pen reshapes (drawing proper was Page 6; harmonics, Pages 4–5). Loaded with the raw materials of "Running Up That Hill" — a CELLO2 voice with the pitch-scoop, and a re-creation of Del Palmer's LinnDrum (a disclosed sandbox; the real drums were a separate machine). A word-processor room. One paragraph held shared across five interface paradigms on a selector: WordStar's control-key command line (MicroPro, 1978), WordPerfect 5.1's Reveal Codes split (1989), the Mac WYSIWYG page (Bravo and Gypsy at PARC, 1974–75; MacWrite/Word, mid-80s), Word's ribbon-and-squiggle suite (Office 97 Assistant, Office 2007 Ribbon), and the modern distraction-free minimal (WriteRoom 2006, iA Writer 2010). Bold and italic survive the round trip losslessly. Eight chapters tetrad-read each era; chapter 7 is Kirschenbaum / Chandler / Ong on what the convenience hides. Genre MONOSPACE. Open WRDZ →
UNRSN CART 020 / 024
A 3D-modelling room — one teapot, seven hands on a selector, the surfaces-from-curves (NURBS) lineage. Seven era-rooms 1963→now: the 1963 constraint console (a real relaxation solver), the 1977 patch workstation, the 1988 Macintosh inference desk, the 1992 Amiga command surfacer, the ~1995 SGI NURBS workstation, the 1998 Windows feature tree, and the modern control-net modeller. MAYX CART 021 / 024
A node-graph 3-D modelling room — the first such modeller to reach the Mac (an orphan half-version, 2001). Where ALYUS and UNRSN tell the story of the curve, MayX tells the story of the wiring: almost everything is a node, and the nodes connect into a dependency graph that recomputes only what an edit touches. Build a surface eight ways, scrub an operator and watch the graph reflow, subdivide a cube by real Catmull-Clark, then render it with a 2001-era scanline software engine. HSONE CART 022 / 024
A real-time ray tracing room — the 2007 camera-not-renderer that taught product designers to make the picture before the thing (and that, after a license split, the world now remembers under a different name). Drag an accurate material onto the Utah teapot, choose a sky-in-a-file, and the photograph resolves in front of you, grainy first, then clean. Where MayX tells the story of the wiring, this room tells the story of the LIGHT: photon maps, image-based skies, translucence. The theory wing, volume two — companion to CANON 001B. Fourteen documents from 1962 to 1990 across fifteen tracks: Engelbart's Augmenting Human Intellect and the 1968 demo, Nelson on hypertext, Kay and Goldberg's Personal Dynamic Media, Shoup's SuperPaint, Bravo and Gypsy at PARC, Knuth's TeX and METAFONT, the Star paper, Shneiderman on direct manipulation, PostScript and the desktop publishing trinity, Porter and Duff on compositing (the single node where the two volumes cross), the Macintosh, NeXTSTEP and Display PostScript, Berners-Lee's Information Management. CANON3 CART 003B / 024
The theory wing, volume three — The Inbetween. Fourteen tracks, twelve documents, 1878 to 1981: the single line from interpolation (fill the gap between two things you made) to generation (produce what you never made). Muybridge, Disney's principles, Burtnyk & Wein, Catmull, Kochanek & Bartels, Lasseter, Reynolds' boids, the non-linear timeline, Beier & Neely, the Illustrator blend, Sims, optical flow. It crosses Volume One on Lasseter and ends at a door — 004B, the generation volume. Genre MOTION: the room is built to move while it reads, and settles under reduce-motion.
