Typeset on a Macintosh, in Adobe InDesign, using (primarily) Helvetica Neue Light, designed by Max Miedinger in 1957 and published by Linotype. Images were made using an iPhone, Canon, Casio, Olympus and Sony digital cameras and light bouncing off polyethylene, polycarbonate, polymethylmethacrylate, nylon and other plastics as well as paper, cardboard, copper, aluminum, stainless steel, glass and other materials put into the service of rendering toys and tools and other works of art by people, mostly working for large companies that build things to entertain and assist consumers. Almost everything in this book is in my studio study collection – they are objects I bought to use and kept, or things I bought to own as objects of contemplation.

*All images and text are by the author unless otherwise noted. This is less a statement of copyright as a declaration of (relative) originality. While it is stipulated that most of the images in this book capture things that other people have given form to, the author is suggesting that his way of capturing and presenting them is at least somewhat unique. He is also giving notice that most of this material isn’t just copied from Wikipedia or other sources without having been set apart and having the authorship acknowledged at least through footnote.

†The manuscript was put together in 2016, but most of the elements in it were created in 2015. This is version GM1.001 | Feb 2017

• Note that the author has chosen to put all punctuation marks inside of parentheses and quotation marks (knowing full well that this will bum some readers out) whether or not the marks are inside or terminating sentences.
