Models
We can believe in Frankenstein so long as he isn’t in high definition. Models should be better than the world; but the more detail we put into them the faster they fall into uncanny valleys. It wasn’t just that Doc Brown didn’t have time to build his model to scale or to paint it, it’s that micro Hill Valley was better in gesso covered boxes and bottles. Crude models can be ugly, but they assume a flexibility of purpose, function and form that the near-perfect will always fail to assume.
