TV
Television has warmed a bit. Where we once settled into frozen glass, heating the cathode ray tubes with our imaginations, HD pixels now flicker small and bright and frequently enough to stand in for all but the best theaters. Our living rooms are better than the cinemas of our parents. Channels you can’t name have hotter shows than any but the most engrossing from the last century. As the box has warmed, we have cooled. Lo-res and paper poor sound were part of what kept us watching. As the explosions and lasers have improved they’ve packed frost into us. We haven’t yet tuned out, but only because they’re turning more on. That movement generates a friction, and before anyone can panic we will stumble back into print.
