Jewelry & Small Metals (Art Studio area), Department of Art + Film, Cal Poly Humboldt

What happened
The metals/jewelry program founded under David LaPlantz (who taught there ~1971 and for 36 years, retiring around 2000) continues to operate. The major institutional change since ~2014: on January 26, 2022, Humboldt State University was redesignated by the CSU Board of Trustees as California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt — branded "Cal Poly Humboldt" — the CSU system's third polytechnic, backed by a $458M state investment. The Jewelry & Small Metals area survived the transition and is now housed in the Department of Art + Film (Art Studio). Current named faculty: Marilyn Koch. LaPlantz is long retired (and is deceased); current leadership of the area has changed accordingly.
