What happened
Strong continuation since ~2014. The program descends directly from the historic faculty in the archived record (Vierthaler, Fenster, Moty, Hu, Glowacki) and remains one of the oldest, most respected metals/jewelry programs in the US. Lisa Gralnick has carried the professorship through this period. In September 2024 the department launched a search for a new tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art Metals (apps due Nov 7, 2024), indicating active investment and faculty renewal/expansion rather than any decline. The metals labs remain fully equipped (casting, enameling, forging, machining) with a full-time technician. No closure, merger, or rename.
