The 413 is the first member of the RB family that later produced the 426 wedge, the 426 Hemi, and the 440. Cast-iron block, raised-deck (RB) architecture, polyspherical heads in early years and wedge heads from 1959 onward. Street use peaked in late-50s/early-60s C-body cars; the famous chapter of its life is the Max Wedge race programme of 1962–64, which used the 413 (and its successor, the 426 Wedge) to dominate Stock-class drag racing.
