1970 Plymouth Duster 340

High-performance 1970 Duster. 340 LA-series four-barrel small-block, performance hood with twin scoops, Duster 340 graphics. ~24,800 built — the strongest A-body muscle volume year before insurance pressure tightened.

Duster 340 is the muscle Duster — Plymouth's 1970 A-body fastback fitted with the 340 four-barrel small-block as standard equipment. Distinguishing kit: matte-black performance hood with twin functional scoops (or hood paint for the budget version), Rallye instrument cluster, heavy-duty suspension, Duster 340 graphics on the bodysides, optional Tuff steering wheel.

1970 was the strongest Duster 340 year by volume (~24,800 cars) — insurance surcharges hadn't yet pulled high-perf small-blocks off the street the way they would by 1972. The 340 four-barrel produced 275 horsepower gross.

Dodge didn't field an equivalent in 1970 — the Demon 340 launched a year later for 1971. So 1970 Duster 340s were the Chrysler corporation's only A-body muscle entry that year.
