B2L is one of the option-callout codes that names the L98 engine on the Pontiac F-body order sheet (the engine code in the eighth VIN position is also a positive identifier). On a 1987–1992 Trans Am or GTA, B2L in the SPID label option block confirms the 5.7L TPI engine. Plenum cross-checks B2L against the eighth VIN character and the engine pad stamping; all three should agree on a numbers-matching car.
