The Borg-Warner T-5 is the five-speed manual transmission across most third-gen V8 F-body cars. The 'world-class' designation indicates the upgraded synchronizers and bearing pack introduced in the late 1980s; earlier T-5s lacked it. Iron tail-housing, slip-yoke output, internal rail shifter.
Behind the LB9 305 TPI the T-5 holds together in stock applications; behind the L98 350 TPI it is at the upper end of its torque rating and most period road tests recommended the 700-R4 automatic for sustained drag duty. The 1992 ZF S6-40 6-speed (RPO MG2) appeared on a small number of late-build cars before the 4th-generation LT1 launch.
