What happened
Continuation with leadership continuity. Thomas Muir, listed in the archived record as "1991 to present," is still the area head as of 2026, now also teaching 3D Digital Media/CAD. No closure, merger, or rename — the program has continued uninterrupted as the Jewelry and Metals area within the School of Art and College of Arts and Sciences. Notable since ~2014: Muir's work acquired by the Toledo Museum of Art (2017); a second metals faculty member, Marissa Saneholtz, is now on staff; graduate jewelry/metals organized under the Three-Dimensional Studies / 3D studio art track.
