1969 Dodge Charger

Second year of the Coke-bottle Richard Sias body. XP29 base; XS29 R/T. Standard engine 318; option list runs through 383, 440 Magnum, 426 Hemi. Fuselage restyle for 1971.

1969 was the second year of Richard Sias's 1968 Charger restyle — a fully fastback Coke-bottle B-body that became one of Chrysler's most-recognized shapes. XP29 was the base body code; XS29 the R/T performance variant. The R/T came with the 440 Magnum standard plus the Hemi optional, the Track Pak (A33) optional, and the standard heavy-duty cooling and brakes.

1969 was also the year of the Charger 500 (separate entry) and the Charger Daytona (separate entry) — NASCAR aero homologation pieces built off the regular Charger body. Both used XX29 base body code with special add-ons by Creative Industries.

The 1969 grille is the most-recognized Charger grille — full-width, deeply recessed, with the inner bezels surrounding twin round headlights. The 1968 grille is similar; the 1970 was substantially revised.
