The LD5 is the Buick Grand National's 3.8-litre turbocharged V6 transferred into the 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am. Garrett T-3 turbocharger, air-to-air intercooler, sequential multi-port fuel injection. Period rating: 250 hp net at 4,400 rpm and 340 lb-ft at 2,800 rpm — exceptional torque numbers for the era.

1989-only. The Y82 RPO disambiguates it from the Formula appearance package that used the same Y82 RPO in earlier years. Total production: 1,555 cars. Each is automatic-only (200-4R).
