The 200-4R is GM's compact four-speed automatic — narrower case than the 700-R4, designed originally for B-body and G-body sedans. In the third-gen F-body it appears almost exclusively behind the LD5 3.8 turbo V6 in the 1989 Y82 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am, where the 700-R4 would not have fit cleanly given the turbo plumbing.
Same gear pattern as the 700-R4 — first 2.74, second 1.57, third 1.00, fourth 0.67 — different case dimensions and shift calibration. Buick Grand National pairings used the same transmission.
